Now you may not have an invitation to the party (we don’t). But you can join in the festivities because on Saturday June 15th, to celebrate the Queen’s birthday, there is the world famous Trooping the Colour at Horse Guards Parade.
Now unfortunately you need a ticket to get into that as well (of course you may be well connected or have won the ballot and have one – lucky you is all we can say!), but for the rest of us we can enjoy the spectacle on the roadside as the troops and the Queen process along the Mall, to and from the ceremony.
This year will the 62nd time the Queen has taken the salute at the Trooping of the Colour and as you can see in the video below, she hasn’t changed a bit!
We suggest you arrive early to get a good position. In fact a good few hours before it all starts at 10.00am. It’s always very popular so please be prepared for crowds if you come with the kids.
It ends at 1.00pm with a fly past by the RAF. And after all that excitement we suggest a great way to wind down will be to head for Westminster Pier (it’s about ten to fifteen minutes depending which end of the Mall you start from) to escape the crowds and board a City Cruises boat for a gentle cruise down the river. Sheer bliss. And while you’re with us enjoy something cold from the bar or a snack from our café.
It’s a great way to end a day to remember.
